If you’ve ever spilled a bottle of nail polish, you know what a mess it can make. One second you’re painting your nails, and the next there’s a huge puddle of bright pink all over your floor. Don’t worry though, because we have some tips to help you clean up nail polish from various surfaces in your home.

If you spill nail polish on your tile floor, sprinkle sugar or salt onto the polish while it’s still wet. The salt/sugar will absorb the wet nail polish in a matter of a few minutes and then you can easily sweep it up. If the nail polish has dried, you can use some nail polish remover and cotton balls to clean it up.

If you spill nail polish on your carpet, the first thing that you’ll want to do is blot up as much of the polish as you can. However, be careful to blot and not wipe, since you don’t want to spread the stain and make it even bigger. Next, if you have light-colored carpets, you can use nail polish remover (that is both acetone-free and dye-free) to remove the stain. Apply the remover to a paper towel and dab at the stain repeatedly.

If the nail polish is dry, you can use a butter knife to scrape up as much as you can. Next, wet the stained area with cold water. Then, apply hair spray (about 10-15 sprays). After that, add a small amount of rubbing alcohol and use a stiff brush to scrub away the nail polish.

Don’t let an accident during your mani/pedi ruin your day or your carpet. Just follow these simple cleaning tips to clean up any spilled nail polish. For a deeper clean for your carpet, give us a call at Premium Care Solutions in Greenville, NC today.
